A gutted medical system. Countless labour strikes lost. Right-wing conspiracy theorists. While Canada doesn't even have a national standardized view of the numbers, let alone a national response, the difficulty in understanding the magnitude of the problem persists. Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, despite all his shortcomings, seems to be connecting with his inner socialist - a positive development. A possible rebirth is at play here. As we continue to traverse through more and more advanced stages of capitalism, it is clear that only a complete re-organization of society can save us. Technical efficiency, community-based approaches and local solutions to harm reduction must be prioritized, market theory eviscerated. Once we hopefully get through this alive - acnknowledging there will be a lot of pain - we'll have to confront the possibility of nuclear war and all the negative repercussions of climate change including a billion refugees birthed from the countless wars a
